There’s No Quick Fix

There's no quick fix, once you are addicted to nicotine. But there are Medications & NRT that can ease the way. You know them as the patch, gum or Zyban. When you give up tobacco—and nicotine—you may experience withdrawal symptoms. These products have been developed to help you cope with withdrawal. Most of these products contain nicotine, but not all of them do. Those that contain nicotine deliver small amounts of the drug into your system, but they are delivered in a way that is less harmful than smoking. Zyban, which does not contain nicotine, works to manipulate the chemical your body naturally produces to minimize the withdrawal symptoms experienced when you take in nicotine by smoking.

As with any drug, all medications that are ingested may have side effects. If you are interested in purchasing any of these products, please consult with yor pharmacist or doctor.

Once purchased be sure to read the package insert very carefully. Do not use any of these products if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. If you have heart problems, be sure to talk with a doctor before using these medications. There are many products on the market to help tobacco users quit, but none of them are 100% effective.

See Medications & NRT for more detailed information products to help you cope with withdrawal.
